If your dwelling suffers structural damage, take steps to secure your property and protect it from further damage and then immediately call your agent. If you incur expenses, save your receipts. You can attempt to locate a reputable contractor to write an itemized estimate of your damage. However, do not authorize permanent repairs until a claims representative has an opportunity to inspect the damage.
