Position Summary:
Responsible for the strategic direction of product development and the company’s pricing policies and reserving. Evaluate product costs, benefits and risks to achieve profitability and premium growth objectives. Manage the actuarial analysis of product line financials to ensure financial strength and lead the review, construction and approval of the reinsurance purchasing strategy
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and meet strategic and tactical growth and profitability goals for all lines of business

• Conduct direct market research and product development of new and existing P&C products

• Partner with Sales, Underwriting and Actuarial to assess and meet product needs

• Identify target markets and assist Sales and Marketing to develop strategies

• Work with Actuarial to monitor competitors products and industry trends

• Prioritize product development projects across the organization

• Review projection models for premium, policy counts, expenses, losses, etc. to forecast financial results by product line.

• Oversee the construction and implementation of new pricing models across all lines of business.

• Analyze and determine ratemaking assumptions (trends in losses and premiums, credibility, expenses, profit provisions, investment income, etc.) to determine rates that achieve profit objectives.

• Manage the actuarial analysis of product
 
Education and Minimum Qualifications:
• Advanced degree

• Minimum 10-12 yrs in product development and research

• Minimum 5-8 yrs experience working in or with the Actuarial Unit

• 10+ years in Management/Leadership in P&C Industry

 
Competencies:
• Ability to train others to acquire knowledge of company products, procedures, and computer applications.

• Demonstrated product management expertise

• Knowledge of developing long-term profit and growth strategies that yield results

• Understanding of rating bureaus and rating manuals.

• Knowledge of computer tools for retrieval and manipulation of relevant information.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with management and other departments.

• Excellent analytical skills

• Ability to access situations and make appropriate recommendations and decisions.

• Leadership Skills

• Strategic orientation, managing vision and purpose, developing organizational capability

• Strong influencing and communications skills and ability to work across multiple areas of company

• Strong Emotional Intelligence skills
